Events
The Joshua Tree has an action packed
calendar of events planned for 2012 from coffee mornings and cake
bakes to our annual Silly Socks Fun Run and brand new for this
year, the Lands End to John o Groats in a day bike ride.
The charity also actively encourages
people to organise their own events in aid of The Joshua Tree and
events can be as big or as small as people wish. Ranging from
raffles and sponsored headshaves to musical evenings and plant
sales. Fundraising materials including posters, balloons,
sponsorship forms and safety advice are all available to help you
plan your event.
We kicked off our fundraising this year with International
Childhood Cancer Day whereby we encouraged everyone to hold a
coffee morning.
Then we moved on to the Silly Socks Fun Run, for a full event
report please click here.
We have a ladies only event
at Nunsmere Hall Hotel in May, where ladies will enjoy a two course
lunch plus an inspirational talk by confidence coach, Eilidh
Milnes. This event is now sold out, but we are planning to hold
further luncheons in the Autumn.
The social theme of fundraising continues with our Cascade 100
initiative. We are looking for people to host a dinner party,
afternoon tea or even a BBQ in their homes and raise a minimum of
£100. Each attending guest is charged £10 to attend and encouraged
to hold their own Cascade event in the future.
And in July The Joshua Tree will get into true Olympic spirit
with an indoor cycling challenge. 48 cyclists, using Watt bikes
will complete the epic Lands End to John o Groats route in just
seven hours at Mid Cheshire College aiming to raise more than
£5,000 for the charity.
But if none of these events take your fancy, why not visit the
Challenges
section on this website and find out more information about some
great UK and Overseas cycling and trekking challenges; featuring
the Inca Trail in Peru, South America and the Pembrokeshire Coast
in West Wales. These events are organised on behalf of The Joshua
Tree by Global Adventure Challenges.
