The Project
The Joshua Tree wants to create a world where children with
immune suppressing illnesses can go on holiday just like other
children.
The Joshua Tree exists because families are unable to go on
holiday due to the risk of infection as a result of the treatment
their sick child is receiving.
The charity is fundraising to build a Holiday House and Support
Centre in Sandiway, Cheshire. Cheshire West and Chester Council
granted planning permission for the purpose built Holiday House and
Support Centre in June 2011.

The plans reflect The Joshua Tree's aim to provide an exciting
and stimulating environment for an unforgettable holiday full of
good, family memories, in a House that is as eco-friendly and
sustainable as we can afford. They have been designed by
Robert Plant of Ellis
Williams Architects, Preston Brook.
The single storey building will feature en-suite family units
for up to four families to stay at a given time. Families staying
at the House will have the opportunity to be as private as they
wish or mix with other families staying at the same time. Families
will be able to take advantage of both their own private rooms and
gardens, plus enjoy the opportunity to chat in the shared dining
and living areas.
The Holiday House will also feature several activity rooms,
including a cinema room, soft play area and teenager's lounge. This
will give the poorly children the freedom to play with other
children and in doing so boost their social esteem.
While the Support Centre will offer emotional support to the
entire family. The Centre will provide advice, holistic treatments
and educational support to the poorly child. It will also act as a
drop in resource for families within the local community.
Once the Holiday House and Support Centre is built, we
anticipate that more than 400 families from across the North West
of England will benefit from our services.
Families will feel less isolated, they will be able to share their
experiences with others in a similar situation and most
importantly, the poorly child will have some fun!
Our advisors are helping us compile a wish list which ranges
from plants to mowers and fridge freezers to bathroom suites.
